About the eLogbook
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh signed a joint agreement earlier in 2010 with its sister surgical Colleges regarding the development of a shared logbook and portfolio which will support the revalidation process for surgeons across the UK.
Based on elements of the pervious Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh electronic platforms, the new portfolio and logbook incorporates the best features of both and is now freely available to all Fellows and Members of the four Colleges in good standing.
The Intercollegiate logbook and portfolio is known as ‘Surgeons’ Portfolio’ and offers Consultant grade surgeons a convenient, reliable and intuitive method of recording skills, experience and CPD. Development is currently taking place to make further enhancements to the system, including powerful tools for the reporting and input of audit data, registries and surveys as well as extensive reporting and peer analysis capabilities.
The Surgeons’ Portfolio will ensure that all surgeons across the UK are prepared for the forthcoming processes of revalidation. To visit the Portfolio, visit www.surgeonsportfolio.net.
The intercollegiate agreement also simplifies the situation for non-consultant grade surgeons, the ISCP training platform will become the single training platform for trainee surgeons and the RCSEd eLogbook will become the single electronic logbook for all non-Consultant grade surgeons, it is planned that in Q1&2 of 2011 all other logbook and training systems will be decommissioned and the data migrated into these systems. It should also be noted that as Trainees become Consultants that their data will become available within the Surgeons Portfolio, thus providing a seamless "cradle to grave" service.
