ABOUT THE FACULTY

About Us

Since it was established in 1998, The Faculty of Health Informatics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has successfully delivered a range of international health related online programmes both independently and in partnership with some of the UK’s leading Universities.  You can find out more details about our partners on our partnership web pages.

We pride ourselves on our student focused flexible approach and this combined with our use of the latest eLearning technology provides the perfect framework for underpinning an enhanced online student experience.  As part of our student focused approach we have developed a whole new Student Info Zone on our website to give students and potential students as much insight to our programmes and studying with us as possible.

Over the years we have learned from our students that one of the main attractions of studying with us is the long established reputation of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. By studying for our online programmes students get the opportunity to affiliate with the College which is one of the world’s oldest medical professional institutions. You can learn more about the history of the college here.

Since the Faculty’s inception change and innovation have been the one constant, ensuring that the Faculty has stayed at the forefront of healthcare eLearning delivery. In 2010 The Faculty was incorporated into The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s new eLearning group which specialises in delivering an array of programmes for surgeons and other health care professionals and comes under the remit of the newly formed Professional Activities Department.

This means that we are better placed to benefit from the synergies created with being more closely aligned with our colleagues which will lead to more collaborative working opportunities across all of the departments of the college.

Our Thanks

The Faculty wishes to express its gratitude and thanks to Walter Scott & Partners and Sir Tom Farmer for their generosity and support in establishing the Faculty.
